12 days since the insertion of the CRT-D and I’m beginning to notice a difference, now that the pain from the op site and shoulder has subsided and I can move the arm around better. I have more energy to do things that I found difficult before, simple things like standing at the sink washing dishes, for example. My legs feel stronger.
The only fly in the ointment is kidney function, which hasn’t been great. That’s due to the heart not pumping properly so if the heart has improved, then there is hope my kidney function will improve too.
I’ve been given a heads-up about a few wonderful groups on Facebook and the links are here:
British Hearties: Worldwide Hearties Survivors Support Group. Closed group
Dilated Cardiomyopathy closed group
Dilated Cardiomyopathy public group
Women with Heart Failure and other heart conditions! Closed group
I’ve had some great information and support from these groups so far and would recommend them to anybody who has Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) and needs to feel less alone. Just send a request to join, as most are closed groups and membership has to be approved first.
So all in the garden is lovely at the moment. This is a long haul problem but for the first time in months there is some hope.
